Summer is around the corner, and while you might have a few activities lined up for your kid(s), you might be wondering how else to spend your summer with the kids at home. A local blogger and Instagram mom, Raising Tacoma is a great resource for all the ideas from eating out to finding a sandy beach. Here are a few summer activities in the Gig Harbor and great South Sound area Raising Tacoma offers up to keep busy this summer.

Ocean 5

Ocean 5 has something fun for everyone, from bowling to laser tag to arcade games. Adults and kids can all have fun and keep cool in the indoor A/C if it’s a sweltering Pacific Northwest summer day.

The Edwards Family Aquatic Center

Grab your goggles and head to the cool waters of Fircrest’s pool, The Edwards Family Aquatic Center. There are water activities for all ages, including a kiddie pool only a few feet deep and a whirlpool play area.

Narrows Beach

The Pacific Northwest has few sandy beaches, but you’ll find a nice stretch of sand at the Narrows Park in Gig Harbor. Get a great view of the Narrows Bridge as you dig in the sand and build sandcastles. Shh, this beach is one of the peninsula’s best-kept secrets.

Point Defiance Park

There is so much to explore at the Point Defiance Park. Slide down Tacoma’s “Chutes and Ladders,€ or grab your bike and ride on the five-mile drive loop (now closed to cars!). Moreover, you can walk the Owen Beach promenade or make a day of it and visit the zoo and aquarium. So many options you’re bound to return many times.

Gotcha Area

For those five years and older, you can get some wiggles out at the ocean- and space-themed foam dart arena, Gotcha Arena in Auburn. Make a team and jump in! Blasters, glasses, and fun supplied.

Snapology Camps

Snapology offers STEM education camps focusing on fun, so your child will not even realize they are learning. Kids in these camps will try their hands at building coding robots, making slime, and so much more.

There is so much to do in the South Sound this summer! For more ideas, head to Raising Tacoma’s blog and Instagram page
