1. Snapology

If you’re looking for something fun and engaging to keep your budding scientist or engineer busy this summer, Snapology probably has the right camp for you. Snapology offers STEAM-based education camps that focus on fun so your child won’t even realize they are learning. Students use LEGO® bricks, K’nex, laptops and tablets to learn about science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts.

Snapology students will build their own amusement parks, code robots, make slime and so much more! But shhh€¦don’t tell them it’s educational! Unlike other programs, Snapology curriculums are designed to incorporate sharing, communication, collaboration and most of all, fun!

2. Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Camps

Is your little one looking for variety this summer? There’s no shortage of options with the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation summer camps. Each week, campers ages 5 to 11 will enjoy diverse recreational activities like swimming, arts and crafts, gym games and team building. Themed camps include Clay Studio Arts, Computer 3D and Video Game Design, Sports Camps and more! Day camps run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There are early drop-off and late pick-up options available for busy parents, too! Residents and non-residents are encouraged to register online, in person or by mail beginning in early February.

3. Bouncing Bulldogs Summer Camp

Your little one is sure to burn off some steam this summer at Bouncing Bulldogs jump rope camp. These action-packed camps are designed for beginner to advanced jumpers ages 5 to 18. Students will keep active through fun-filled, challenging tasks while learning the latest techniques in single rope, double dutch, Chinese wheel, traveler and long rope. Not only will students challenge themselves physically, Bouncing Bulldogs also focuses on the intellectual and social-emotional development of all campers. Teamwork, communication and leadership are all staples of this fun program. Register now to get the dates of your choice!

4. iD Tech Summer Camp

Tech-savvy children and teens are sure to have a blast at this nationwide technology center which offers summer camps and workshops at over 150 locations. At the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill location, students ages 7 to 17 are invited to join the original tech camp, offering weeklong sessions all summer long. Daily schedules include five hours of instruction, two hours of activities and socializing, and up to one hour of flexible time to be spent as the students wants. Students will have a blast coding their own apps, designing video games, producing videos, and much more! There are over 30 innovative courses offered at the iD Tech summer camp. Optional add-ons include overnight camp, weekday lunch, weekend stays, continuing education and online private lessons.

5. Afton Nature School

Summer is the perfect time to share the wonders of nature with our children and encourage them to explore, play and get their hands dirty! Afton Nature School is a Licensed NC program with a 5-star rating designed for children ages 1 to 6. Children in this nature-based summer camp will have access to temperature controlled indoor spaces and shaded, natural outdoor spaces with state-of-the-art learning tools and teaching techniques. Afton Nature School’s mission is to provide children with engaging and enjoyable play experiences that maximize their intellectual, social and physical development. Weeklong camps run from 8:30 am to 3:40 pm.

6. The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center

Summer is for adventuring, playing and exploring new things! The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center summer camp is the perfect fit for inquisitive minds. With camp themes like Aquatic Animal Adventures, Dino Detectives, Coding 101, Astronomy and Food Science, there’s no shortage of fun. Camps also include music, literary traditions, visual arts and outdoor play when appropriate. Registration for the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center summer camp begins January 27th. Morning care, afternoon care and lunch care are also available for busy parents who need full day care for their children.
