Snapology\u2019s S.T.E.A.M. Survivor program will put your students\u2019 design, building, and critical thinking skills to the test! They will be given daily challenges for which they must design functional solutions with their teammate! They will earn Survivor Bucks when they perform well and be able to use those survivor bucks to purchase supplies or prizes throughout the camp. The goal of this program is to encourage our students to carefully work through the engineering design process to see how often they can design with a purpose. Students will learn:\r\n\r\n\u2022 Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: A core competency in STEAM programming is that it engages critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In this program, students will explore different methods of engineering solutions to given problems through the design of functional models. In order to succeed, they must work together and think outside of the box!\r\n\u2022 Teamwork Skills: Small groups and peer partners are key components of Snapology\u2019s classroom approach. We emphasize positive teamwork skills in our programs and constantly work to develop\r\nhealthy, respectful collaborations between students. Through group planning, sharing of materials, and fun partner experiences, students become more cognizant of how to interact with their peers in a respectful and productive way.\r\n\u2022 Engineering Design Process: The process by which engineers create, test, and release new machines and resources to the general public is called the Engineering Design Process. This process is an\r\niterative process that flows from asking > researching > imagining > planning > creating > testing > improving over and over until the product is ready for use. Your student will be taught about this process and helped to master the process of design with their partner in each of our challenges!\r\n\r\n\ud835\ude3c\ud835\ude41\ud835\ude4f\ud835\ude40\ud835\ude4d\ud835\ude49\ud835\ude4a\ud835\ude4a\ud835\ude49: In this game-focused robotics program, your engineer will explore the basics of robotics while playing some really awesome games with and against their classmates! While working with a partner to complete various challenges, your student will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors, how different mechanical components work in their robots, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges and awesome games! Students will learn:\r\n\r\n\u2022 Simple Machines: Students will learn about several simple machines throughout the class. Whether learning about pulleys while creating speedy go-karts, or levers as they are launching grumpy birds on catapults, students will see simple machines in action. They will also begin to think critically about their surroundings and realize all the simple machines they use every day.\r\n\u2022 Axles, Gears, and Motors: Children will learn about the importance of axles, gears, and motors in mechanical movement. They will actively experiment with these components to create their robots, while facilitating a deeper understanding of mechanics.\r\n\u2022 Programming Skills: Each day, children will be given a program to operate their robotic build. Students are then encouraged to use critical thinking and programming skills to enhance their robot\u2019s\r\nprogram. Whether making their build respond to motion and tilt sensors, adding loops, or creating fun sounds, children will learn valuable programming skills in an easy to use, drag and drop programming format.\r\n\r\n\ud835\ude3c\ud835\ude3f\ud835\ude3f\ud835\ude44\ud835\ude4f\ud835\ude44\ud835\ude4a\ud835\ude49\ud835\ude3c\ud835\ude47 \ud835\ude3f\ud835\ude40\ud835\ude4f\ud835\ude3c\ud835\ude44\ud835\ude47\ud835\ude4e: Drop off begins each day at 8:30am. For maximum efficiency, we ask you to be punctual at arrival and dismissal times. Campers are required to bring in their own lunch, 1 snack, and a drink every day. Please pack lunches in paper bags or lunch coolers and put the child\u2019s name on each bag. Snapology Day Camp is a \u201cnut sensitive\u201d environment.
